Who is Good Karma Squad?
Good Karma Squad is a Florida nonprofit organization founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife team, Ed and Janet Ramos.
We are dedicated to inspiring change for the preservation of oceans, coastal habitats, and marine life. Our focus is on fostering awareness through educational initiatives, workshops, and collaborations with like-minded individuals and organizations.
Why Good Karma Squad?
Consider us optimistic, but we initially believed that individuals united for the betterment of our oceans and marine life would readily collaborate. However, after years of volunteering with various organizations and facing obstacles when seeking deeper involvement, our passion was met with unnecessary competition, leaving us frustrated. With the sole intention of making a positive impact, we decided to establish a company where we could transform the experience and contribute meaningfully.
The Squad
We are building an incredible community of like-minded individuals and organizations who share our unwavering passion for this mission. The wealth of experience and dedication from our partner organizations is invaluable, and we are so appreciative of our squad that generously donate their time to support our mission. Their dedication plays a vital role in advancing ocean and marine life conservation.
About the Founders
We dedicate a significant amount of our time to volunteering with local organizations. Whether at a sea turtle rehab center caring for injured turtles, safeguarding nesting sea turtles and their eggs from poachers during nesting season, or rescuing disoriented hatchlings from artificial light, our commitment remains unwavering.
As avid scuba divers, we actively participate in coral research, engage in replanting projects, and contribute to the protection of reefs through Lionfish hunts and underwater debris cleanups.
Our passion extends beyond local borders, as we travel to the Caribbean and Mexico, collaborating with local conservationists, exchanging insights on our programs, and assisting in various projects. These experiences prove incredibly educational and priceless to advancing our mission.
Regrettably, a significant part of our efforts involves tackling the pervasive issue of plastic trash, particularly single-use plastics, both on land and sea.
The Purpose
Our post-lockdown observations revealed the positive impact human isolation had on oceans and marine life. It's an enlightening yet saddening reality. Recognizing humans as a significant part of the problem, we believe that together, we can be a part of the solution.
INSPIRE CHANGE!
